Sprucing up your bathroom doesn’t always have to be a huge, expensive job; sometimes making a few simple changes can look just as effective. When next redesigning your dream bathroom, the following tips are sure to leave you with an end result that you can proud of...
Using colour in your bathroom
Changing the colour in your bathroom is an easy way to make a high impact change without splashing the cash. You can opt for an out-there, creative design using bright colours like yellow, red and blue or you can opt for a contemporary, modern look and stick with grey's, white's and other muted colours. Choosing the latter helps safeguard you if you ever choose to sell your home as muted colours are a popular option.
These colours can be incorporated in a number of ways; toilet seat, towels, tiles etc.
Bathroom lighting
The lighting in your bathroom is super important, especially if you have a small window (or no window at all!) that lets in very little light. Your lighting needs to bring out the accents in the room and compliment the colours that you have chosen, so maybe opt for a white light as opposed to a dreary, yellow light.
With regards to where you fit the lights, you can install them on the mirror, under the fixtures, on the ceiling and in other places.
Get a bathroom sink that stands out
Free standing sinks are no longer as popular as they used to be, so maybe consider some alternatives:
- Integral sinks are made from the same material as the vanity countertop that they are built into, giving a seamless effect from one 'fixture' to another. Integral sinks are easy to clean and look great.
- Undermount sinks are similar to integral sinks, except they are lowered further to give off a truly seamless effect.
- Self rimming bathroom sinks are also a popular option and usually sit on top of the countertop, but they do require a little more cleaning (especially around the outer rim).
All of these different types of sink are available in a wide range of colours and designs so you can find one that matches your style!
Consider a statement bath tub
Your bath tub is likely the biggest thing in your bathroom, so naturally it needs to look great. There are hundreds of different designs available to suit every budget and theme; such as freestanding, pedestal bases, claw and ball feet or straight sided tubs. For even more luxury, why not choose a bigger, double bath?
A shower straight out of a spa
People tend to think showers are less relaxing and luxurious than baths, but this doesn’t have to be the case. Having a spa type shower can make you look forward to hopping in the shower in the morning, thanks to the range of heads and power settings. As well as a rain shower head, treat yourself to body sprays down the walls to massage your body whilst you shower.
